My Magic Music Box

It's the weirdest thing: I'm at work, looking through my songs on Windows Media Player, wondering why a song I recently downloaded isn't showing up on my playlist that should include every song I've ever had in my part of the computer (since there's someone else that has a different login for the same computer for the afternoon shift). Well, in attempting to solve the mystery of the missing song, I found in the Tools menu a 'tool' called Search for Media Files and thought "this might be just what I'm looking for" . . .

Well, I clicked on it and clicked OK until it did what it was supposed to do. It ended up being good, bad, and, well, interesting. First, the 'interesting' part: the old secretary, Amy, apparently still has songs saved somewhere on the computer, and now I have them on my playlist, too. That's interesting because she has some interesting [read: "rap"] music . . .

Second, the 'bad': for some reason, it didn't recognize which songs I already had in my Media Player list, so a ton of my songs were now on my list TWICE. Wonderful. Just what I always wanted, having to go through my entire song list and delete every other song. Wonderful.

Finally, the 'good' part: some music I had put on the computer at some point in my lifetime (maybe even before they switched out the actual physical computers here at work) showed up. That included a Spanish CD I loved that I lent to a friend and never got back (I've always wondered if it was understood to be lent). And some other ones I'd almost forgotten about. That was fun.
